Everyone at our house is looking for the dictionary to help find the best word to use the cards we have been dealt or have drawn. Because it is always challenging (and to avoid disputes) we would recommend the Scrabble Dictionary or a good pocket dictionary as a traveling companion to Quiddler.

The progressive play of the cards (from 3 to 10 cards) changes the dynamics as you begin each round of play and creates new challenges each turn. Perhaps our family is not as competitive as some but we enjoy helping each player optimize the letters (cards) s/he is caught with after the first player goes down. We can all join in finding the best combinaton of words from each players hand to give him/her the best score with the available cards. It is interesting how many options can be found with the same set of letters... very educational and a lot of fun.

I like the solitaire version also... if I have no-one else to play with.

this game is very easy to pick up and play right out of the box. A total of eight hands are dealt which makes the game short and sweet. We play without a dictionary which is more fun. The players vote on whether we think a word is valid and majority rules. The game really bogs down with players constantly looking up words. The first person to be able to play their whole hand, with one card as a discard, goes out and the rest of the players have one turn to put down as many words as possible. Points are scored based on letter value and some cards have more than one letter such as "qu" or "cl". You lose points for letters that can't be played. You cant play your cards on another players word. Highest score after 8 hands is the winner. Spelling and game usually don't go well together but this is a fun game for any age. I personally like Five crowns better.

Monopoly is fun, but it takes FOREVER to play, those trivia games are too hard for the kids, Dad can't even draw a stick figure, let alone play Pictionary, and you don't want to spend an hour just setting up an elaborate game and reading the instructions.

So what's the solution? Play QUIDDLER!! Our family loves this game - you can complete a whole game in an hour or less (or you could stop half-way through and finish the game the next evening). In Quiddler, you create words, but unlike Scrabble, it's not always the one with the best vocabulary who gets the most points. You try to make words out of all your letters - there might be a long word which gets lots of points, but it might be little brother over there who is able to make several short words who gets the "most words" bonus and jumps ahead of everyone else!

We played this game last night and were surprised how fast things change - someone who is way ahead after the 3rd round can be behind after the 4th. Just one round can dramatically change things!

Pick a dictionary and let that be your judge on whether or not something is a word. Be sure to find the dictionary BEFORE you start playing because you'll need it!

We've played this game with 4, 5, and 6 people. Anywhere from 1 to 8 people can play - now that's a versatile game!

This is one game where a child isn't necessarily at a disadvantage when playing with adults.

The cards are beautiful - be sure to take time during your fun family evening to notice them!

After loving this game, I bought Set for Christmas and we're going to play this one tonight! ... .

I noticed one flaw in the program -- it says to type ">" to make a black square. I didn't figure that out as "next page" until I saw another review here. I instead typed "z" for black squares, and "x" for squares known to have nothing.

These are all great puzzles, and well implemented. Nonograms, Hanjie, Paint by Numbers, Griddlers are some of the names for this puzzle type. It was originally developed by Non Ishida in Japan, in 1988. I would have paid for the program.

The logic aspects involve figuring out forced squares and unfillable squares, and continually going back and forth to figure out the status of more squares.

Picture types included:
Introductory 5
Animals 11
Electrical 10
Natural 7
Vehicles 8
Objects 9

Puzzle range from 5x5 to 15x15. This is a great free download. Other puzzle programs I recommend are NY Times Crosswords, Strimko, Futoshiki, and EA Sudoku.

Recommended.

This is a neat little game for your Kindle - not as addictive as some of the other games that are available as Kindle applications, but as I type this review it is free (and everyone loves free). The goal of the game is to use a certain number of clues for each column / row on the picture grid in order to figure out what picture is contained in the grid. You have numbers you are trying to connect, etc.

I will admit I wasn't able to identify a few of the pictures I played - there are 50 total in the series - but you can get clues. The keyboard does get confusing, so I wrote a few instructions down for which arrow key represents

I would agree with the game description if you like using logic to solve puzzles, you will like Pixel Perfect Puzzles (I substituted "like" for "love" in this case). Considering the game is free for your Kindle, why not give it a shot and see if you like it?

I just downloaded and played the game. Your goal is to make a picture from numerical clues.

Using each number as a clue, you draw a sequence of consecutive black squares. The clues in a row or column are in the same order of black squares in the puzzle pictures. For example (2,3) on a row means there are two consecutive black squares, at least a blank square in between and three consecutive black squares on this row.

You use Next Page (>) key to fill squares and Prev Page (<) key to cross off squares with an X. To fill in many squares at a time, hold the Next Page (>) key while moving the cursor with 5-way controller. To cross off many sqares at a time, hold the Prev Page (<) key while moving the cursor. I found the key selection a bit awkward.

Starting with the largest clues is the key since it will eliminate the options available for the smaller clues. Also, make sure to mark all the blanks with an X. Marking constraints first like this is always useful in logical games.

There are 50 picture puzzles in the game. Time, hints used, and errors are recorded for each puzzle so you can compete with someone else.

Some pictures are quite complex so you may need hints to continue. Three hints are available for each picture for you to use if you get stuck.

You can find errors and erase them anytime. All errors are also recorded for each puzzle.

Amazon released another free fun puzzle game. Give it a try. It is free after all.

Perplexus compared to Superplexus and Magic Intellect Ball, October 31, 2009

Perplexus is sphere in which you guide a small silver ball around an obstacle course. This is an almost identical copy of the Superplexus. The Perplexus and Superplexus are both 23 inches around. The only differences between they two are that the Superplexus has a completely clear globe, digital timer, more solid construction and is a bit heaver. The magic Intellect Ball or Magic Intennect Ball are also similar toys which are 95% the same as the Perplexus. The differences being that the Magic Balls have a completely clear globes, two different turns in the course and are only 20 inches around.

Perplexus positives:
The part of the course that is constructed correctly is fun. (All but one part of the course works in mine.)
Nice Colors.

Perplexus negatives:
The swing arm part in the middle of the second section is poorly constructed. In order to make it swing, the screw is too loose which means that the ball can NOT drop into the right place. So, there is no way to complete section Two.

Instead of having a clear sphere, like Superplexus, Magic Intellect Ball and Magic Intennect Ball, Perplexus has a 3 inch across watermark/stamp that says "Buksi" in the plastic on the top and bottom of the ball. When looking through this watermark/stamp the track the ball follows is fuzzy. Worse than that having to look back and forth over and over between the clear and cloudy plastic stamp as I do the maze give me a bad headache!!!!!

What a shame they put that annoying "Buksi" stamp there. If only the globe was completely clear and the swing arm worked it would be a 5 star toy. Best I can give it is 3 stars and I recommend you buy the Superplexus or Magic Intellect ball instead because that have all the best parts of Perplexus with a completely Clear Globe.

This toy is great for all ages! My 3 year old is surprisingly VERY interested in it and it's so fun to watch him concentrate! He can easily get all the way past #25 and is getting better every time he plays with it. My husband will sit down with it for easily an hour (unusual for him) to try and conquer the maze. My favorite things about it: 1-when the kids are playing it they are concentrating SO hard that they are quiet and engaged for a LONG time. 2-no batteries required. 3-no annoying noises. 4-anybody can play. It's PERFECT for Doctor visits (who likes to wait at the dr's office with nothing to do?), trips in the car, and just hanging out at home! We keep one in the car (for trips AND when we are somewhere like an event that not everyone is interested in watching) and one at home.

Anytime ANYONE is over at our house and this toy is out, they are completely drawn to it. Adults and kids will pick it up and before too long are so engaged with it that they can't hold a conversation because they are concentrating so much. It is WONDERFUL to see children so focused on something other than a video game!!! Almost everyone who has played with it at my house has purchased one shortly after.

I would DEFINITELY recommend this toy to ANYONE! I'm buying 20 of them--family Christmas gifts and friend's birthday gifts for the upcoming year. I have NO problem with any part of this toy and am 110% satisfied with the durability and quality of this product!!! Whoever came up with such a toy is genius! The price is very low for the enjoyment and fun everyone will get out of this product!!!

First off, my whole family loves Perplexus!

I won't drag on with a description of the product, as other reviews have done this. But I will offer some updates regarding some of the previous reviewers' concerns about the construction of the toy.

1: The "watermark" stamp seems to have been changed. There still is one, which now reads "Perplexus," but it is not frosted; it is clear like the rest of the ball. Granted, there is some distortion looking through this from some angles, but it does not seem to impeed play.

2: The swing arm on ours works fine.

3: The hemispheres are screwed together tightly and look as though they will hold up to abuse. (But I will admit here that we have only had this toy for 2 days. If it breaks, I'll post a revised review).

4: The numbers along the track are still very difficult to see without very bright light, and even then you may have to tip the toy in a direction you don't want to in order to see the numbers. However, most of the pathways are easy to follow without the numbers, and once you've followed a path, it's unlikely you'll forget the way, so you really only need the numbers once.

Overall: my whole family (including the 5 year old) is in LOVE with this toy. We've had to set up rules about how long anybody gets to play with it, just to make sure the rest of us get our turn. I'm buying several as Christmas presents.

This is a great game, easily learned and played by younger players. Since it's hard to know what a game is like without knowing how to play it, im going to try to explain it too you.
Its simple: each player has seven RED cards with names of people, places or things on them. A GREEN card is randomly picked from a pile and set on the table: each GREEN CARD has a characteristic of an object or person, such as "Graceful" "Wild" "Neat" "Ancient", to name a few. Each person has to pick the RED card (out of their seven cards) that best matches with the GREEN card on the table, like the "pushups" red card would fit well with the "exhausting" green card, etc. Once everyone has placed one red card in the middle with the green card, a judge (assigned at the beginning of each round, so you take turns) picks the card that they think matches best, and the person that had that card gets a point. What makes this game fun is, like a previous reviewer said, is that there are no wrong answers, you can pick whatever you want. There also 5 or six variations to the game which can be VERY fun. May I warn you though, this game cannot be played with less than three players, and isn't really fun unless you have 5 or more, so bring friends over to try it out. I hope my review and explanation helped anyone considering buying it..
